One for your entertainment. Sourced from the V&A here and labelled Coventry Bobby by Helen Campbell. Dated 1930s but we might be able to get closer to a date. Can you guess where it is? Those with picture skills might want to try a bit of jiggery pokery to make the puzzle easier. I did but I already had an idea where it was.

The original image looked like it was a negative, so I've inverted it to give a monochrome image, which can be seen below.

I had managed to invert it on my ipad but still not sure where it is. Is it anything to do with 1939 ?

That's useful but it is possible to 'flip' the image. I think it's the wrong way round. It's definitely Broadgate but at first I thought it was the demolition of Boots the Chemists, corner of Market Place. But the buildings on the far left didn't look right. I now think it's the demolition of the City Hotel replaced by Burton the Tailor, corner of Smithford Street. If we could read the shop signage better it would be easier! I'm sure the distinctive black/white sign in the middle is Burton's but back to front. I'd date this c 1928/9.

Yes, isn't it strange how disorientating it is to see an image back to front/wrong way round. I can see clearly now I really focus hard, the 'backwards' Burton fascia. I do hope someone with technical skills can get this the right way round, way beyond my capabilities I'm afraid. It's surely a unique image, I wonder who took it?

Thanks Rob. rocksolid - Sourced from the V&A and labelled Coventry Bobby by Helen Campbell. I did check the rest of her collection at the V&A but alas, this was the only one of Coventry. However kudos to her for not taking the standard, chocolate box view.
I'll add that this sort of photo is very useful to me because it tells me which buildings were brick or timber.
