With the amount of electronics (all low power) I have in this room I use 3 x 10-way adapters. I have to unplug one on Friday mornings when the housekeeper comes in with her vacuum cleaner so she can plug that directly into a wall socket. My recliner chair is also plugged directly into a wall socket and never through an extension lead.
My new photographic lighting rig won't get used in this room - no space. But, the total rig is only 4 x 85watt compact fluorescents so they don't draw a lot of power. Gone are the days of 250-watt and 500-watt photofloods. Nowadays it is mainly the likes of kettles and heaters that draw high power.

Just popped to Argos to collect my on-line parcel (on bus of course).
The adapter sits flush with the wall, looking almost like a fixed socket set. It does everything that it said on the tin. Another light unit will be plugged in later.

If I recall correctly, my dad used to buy a lot of DIY stuff from a shop near what is now called the the Old Shepherd pub in Keresley Rd. Was that run by another member of the same family? The name Dick Shepherd seems to ring bells but I could be mistaken. Dad went through a phase of sticking Formica on everything!

The building is still there but hasn't been open as a shop for many years, though the business might well still own it.

When moving to Eastern Green in the 70's, I used a DIY store at the bottom of Nod Rise called Lowes, also used Tuck’s on Beech Tree Avenue.

Lowes closed about 20 years ago. They specialised in fitting doors.
