Hi William, see my comment 171. It was at the eastern side of the eastern end of Bayley Lane, not far from Earl Street.

Another new Aerial image that was new to me that cropped up recently on FB. It was marked as 80s but I think it's a bit earlier -

Thank you. I was not aware that this stretch was Bailey Lane too, possibly as I left Coventry in the late 80s. However, I am looking forward to walking around the city again next Friday. With a combination of the contributions on this site and recent reading it is fair to say I will be viewing the city with a different lens. So much has been lost even during the the last 35 years.

Yes Anne - Paynes Lane in the foreground. I'm interested in what appears to be marked as Primrose Hill Cottage on maps lower centre.

Great work Neil Double thumbs up Primrose Hill Cottage had gone by that point. It was demolished between 1950 and 1954.The last building as you follow Paynes Lane from the right is 126, 128, and 130. The cottage was just beyond 130, over the path. It was a bungalow, originally the lodge for Primrose Hill House. Those and St Peter's vicarage were the oldest buildings up there, appearing on the 1850 map.

Not aerial as such but had to share these with thanks to Jeffrey Stevenson on FB - At the time my father was in the army, serving 'up north' somewhere with an AA battery. My mother and her family lived in Huntingdon Rd. Earlsdon. She worked in a draper's shop in the City Arcade - a job she loved. Her 22 birthday was on 13 November 1940. Maybe it was on her birthday, or even on the day before the attack, she took these two photos from the cathedral spire viewing platform. Much of what appears in these photos disappeared overnight.

To view do I need to be riding an Ariel motorbike. Forget that, but lovely pictures, Neil. I look forward to Thursday picture parade.

Those are two useful photos Neil for anyone trying to work out what was destroyed by the war Double thumbs up . The first one is the only view I think there is of the Prudential from that side/above. You can also see that the horrible mock Tudor look that Dovecot House (corner with Derby Lane) was given was to match it.

Bril Helen again - hadn't noticed that. What did Dovecot House look like before then - do we know?

The Derby Lane side had long been bricked in but the front was distinctive (and you'll know it). While they kept the interior bones of the corner building, they must have demolished the right hand side to build the Prudential. I'm not sure that I've seen what they did with this elevation.
