According to the newspaper archives the tank was moved from Greyfriars Green to Paradise in 1938

I think that the concrete base for the tank was still there in the early 70's. I can recall asking what this strange bit of shaped concrete was for.

It was bought by Alfred Herbert when they wanted it moved from Greyfriars Green. In 1940 he decided to used it as salvage towards the war effort. Picture from the Coventry Herald.

Hi
I have a 12 inch plate white metal. I was given it.
It has the inscription on it
With compliments from J.T COLEMAN Boot and shoe company 620 stoney stanton Road
Paradise boot stores
All I know is it was established in 1819. I have no other information on this
I am keen to hear of anyone can shed any light on this company
I would be interested to know what happened to the firm
It's a lovely item I will try to upload a picture (new to forum).
Thankyou

Have a look at Post 35 in this topic. Google maps suggest that this is the correct part of Stoney Stanton Rd (opposite Eden Street) and this old cottage has what looks like an old industrial workshop alongside.

I don't know if there's any connection but in the 1950s there was a lady living in one of the cottages adjacent to that building who sold shoes

The Colemans were there in 1937, 1921, 1912 but I can't trace them further back on Stoney Stanton Road or to anywhere else. I can't even find another boot or shoe business on the road at that time. The numbering is a bit weird early on but even ignoring the number, there wasn't anything that leapt out. In 1912 there was a block called the Coleman Buildings.
Post war (1953, 1955) there is a Coleman at number 630 but they're not listed as boot makers or shop. Nor are the other Colemans nearby on Stoney Stanton Road.
So wherever they were or whatever the company was called prior to 1912, it's not obvious.

Geoff you are quite right there was a Lady who sold Shoes in the row of houses as I walked past there to School for years as word got around she had a Orchard and we kids would call in and she would give us some Pears or Apples. I think there was another small shop before the play area and I am sure there was a Butcher's at the other end just before Cross Road.

First newspaper reference I found to Coleman's Boot Stores was 24th July 1902 - a lost dog. Contact was at Paradise, Foleshill.
But I just can't find any references to a boot seller/maker named Coleman prior to 1902 so the possibilities are - the boot business existed elsewhere (ie not reported in Coventry newspapers); the Colemans bought a boot business and renamed it; they operated a different type of business and changed to selling/making boots; they were a very small business, too small to list or advertise; they lied about being established in 1819; or they were a combination of the above.
There is a 13th Apr 1861 reference to a farmer, E Coleman at Foleshill and that might be the best possibility. The article was about Coleman beating another guy up at Coleman's brother's warehouse in Cox Street but there is no record of what was in the warehouse. Another is for arable land occupied by James Coleman at Foleshill for sale in 13th Apr 1854 adjacent to the canal, with a carriageway to the Stoney Stanton turnpike road. There is also a clothing seller in Abbey Street Nuneaton called Coleman's but no early reference to boots or shoes.
