Hertford Street

This one is labelled as Hertford Street so I'm led to believe it's the interior of the old Corn Exchange during demolition - I don't think I have seen an interior image before (though most of it has obviously already gone here!).

Nice post-war capture of the western side before redevelopment started - that's the very edge of the Geisha Café on the right -

Hello, I walked passed that many times, homewood bound from school. Regards cafes, my mum was very fond of the Geisha for their cakes.

Hello, Ok ok, think tanks please. Was Smithford St, realigned to its approach to Broadgate, before the new Precinct was built. I recall a photo of the bombed out top of Smithford St, showing the entrance to the cinema off Smithford St. How does that align with Earl St? Or was there a walkway entrance off Smithford St. I recall a member of staff from the now closed Ager's shoe shop who were No6 Smithford St, telling me that the entrance to the cinema was next door to their shop.

I'm lost, and I used to know Hertford Street! Looking at all pics, I don't think I could place any one!

You're not alone not recognising the photos but a look at the maps help here. I'm always lost when it comes to modern Coventry. The current Empire was built roughly over the old one.

I didn't have a clue, but you can just see the same white lintel(?) in the top pic towards the top LH corner of this shot from Google Earth - marked as "HVM Empire". With all that next-door building gone, no wonder there are new vistas to "enjoy"!
