Peter Spooner-Whyte (aka Jones)

Sorry Walrus, the names sound familiar but I cannot recall if they were in the 6th as my contemporaries. I did not socialise much as a teenager. I started in Segrave 1959 and then Mowbray before joining the 6th form and leaving in 1966.

I also started in Segrave '59. Derek Glew was my form Master and Ben Vickery was Housemaster.

Here's a picture of Pete Spooner-Whyte as a member of the Caludon 1st XV. Peter is on back row second from R. Next to him, far R, is brian Morley. I'm in the middle of same row. Most of the team were fifth-formers (Year 11 in modern parlance), the sixth form stil being very small.

Hi Choirboy - the member of staff to the R. of Mr Tilley was, I think, 'Ken' Cooper; and the one to the R. of him 'Wally' Evans. There was a rather extraordinary Maths teacher called Murray who led the school's Beekeeping Club.

It was Ken Cooper who taught me pure maths A level 1964/6, he was also housemaster of Green. I think applied maths was taught by a Mr Tebbit? I do not remember a Mr Murray but Mr Vickery, housemaster of Seagrave, taught me maths during my first my two years.
